Season 4 just felt like a lot of filler for me. We did get a lot of storylines explored though. Some things I thought that season 4 did well with was with Clay and his mental illness and problems. It was really interesting to see how all the things that happened in the past seasons affected him now and how he’s handling it. Another thing I thought that they did well was the ending. The ending felt really impactful to me which was a great way to end a show. It made me crying by the end of it.
Justin’s death was very surprising and out of the blue. I knew what they were trying to do but the execution of it just felt a little off. But that’s another thing that was good with this season, Clay’s and Justin’s relationship. They both have the strongest bond on the show and I really felt like they were great brothers.
But, there were a lot of things I felt were a little weird in season 4. The way they handled Winston wasn’t the greatest. I was expecting the climax is when Winston finally found out who did it and tell the police. But Winston’s storyline really fell flat. He fell in love with Alex and dropped the whole thing when he found out it was him. And Winston’s and Monty’s relationship didn’t sit right with me. I was expecting this season to be playing with flashbacks like they did in all the previous seasons, showing that Monty and Winston building their relationship together, but it just didn’t happen. Which is kind of weird because they only had two moments together and Winston said that he loved him. But it also kind of shows what kind of person Winston was, he gets attached to people easily because he’s lonely. So I guess their relationship was a meh for me.
Another thing is I didn’t feel like this whole season had a fully set plot for everyone, that’s why I said this season felt like a lot of filler. It really felt like random things were happening for no reason and this season was just all over the place.
What I also didn’t like was what the writers did to Zach and Clay. In the one episode where Clay was smoking and he hooked up with a random girl just didn’t feel like Clay to me, like it wasn’t a thing Clay did. With Zach, he became a person who slacks off and drinks a lot instead of his more serious personality in the past seasons. I think that personality was given to Charlie.
And then we have Alex, who just flipped immediately from straight to gay. The way that they did this transition felt too quick and too out of place. They did hint it in season 2 but it completely disappeared in season 3, which is weird.
Finally, we have Bryce, where I think the writers were very indecisive of is he a good guy or bad guy. This plays in with the big problem of season 3, but I felt like the redemption arc of Bryce in season 3 was ruined (even though it was poorly done) in season 4 because all we got to see was him being his mean Bryce self, even if it wasn’t actually him and just Clay’s imagination.
So there were my thoughts on Season 4! Let me know if you agree or disagree and what we’re you thoughts on season 4

Make Me Think Otherwise
I hate how Alex and Jessica got away with throwing Bryce in the water and blaming it on Monty. Even though Bryce raped Jessica and other girls, you could see him really trying to change. And I think if he didn’t die he would have become a better man, he was just really hurting because of his father, and you can see that he really did regret hurting those girls. It angers me that they just blamed it all on Monty and Alex and Jessica got no punishment. For Christ’s sake, they didn’t even attempt to save him!!! And they just got away with it!!! While also blaming an innocent man! Monty just needed someone in his life that made him happy and let him be Himself, like Bryce, he was also hurting. If Winston would have come along earlier in monty’s life I think he would have not done all the terrible things he did. Although he did assault Tyler, he didn’t deserve to die in prison the way he did. I think he should have gotten 10 or 15 years then he could have went on with his life and let Winston make him a better person. And Bryce didn’t deserve to die because he knew he caused pain and he really regretted everything he did, and he had to live with that and that alone is already enough torture for what he did, because he hated himself. I wish he lived so we could see if he would have ever changed, and become happier and better. All in all, I am furious that Jessica and Alex got away with killing Bryce. I think Jessica as a witness shouldn’t serve time because she got raped by him and he didn’t get much punishment. But as for Alex, I think he should go to jail for 15 years. Feel free to say anything if u disagree with me.
