Joy Gorman-Wettels (b. Unknown) is an American Producer and Writer. She is an Executive Producer for the first and second season of Netflix's "13 Reasons Why".
Biography[]
Gorman-Wettels is an American executive producer for 13 Reasons Why. She is also a Producer at Anonymous Content (which helped produce 13 Reasons Why), focused on socially impactful content for Women and Youth. She and Anonymous Content strives for authentic, accurate reflection, and real world impact by aligning with activists and organizations through storytelling.
In 2007, She was named one of The Hollywood Reporter's NEXT GENERATION / "35 under 35"[1]. Her early years in entertainment were spent at Miramax Films in NYC and the Robert Simonds Company at Universal. She grew up in Yonkers, New York and commuted to Barnard College of Columbia University where she produced the famed Columbia Varsity Show, her very first collaboration with Mr. Yorkey. Joy is a member of the Producers Guild of America and the Television Academy.
Joy is also one of the first 200 Hollywood women at the forefront of the Time's Up movement. She's shooting a documentary on the modern women's movement with Oscar nominated director Amy Berg which follows activists such as Women's March Co-Founder Tamika Mallory, Dreamer Erika Andiola and the Pantsuit Nation founders. She is a fierce advocate for women and kids and for mental health in media, and is active with United State of Women, Crisis Text Line, It's On Us, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She has spoken at several events such as the Teen Vogue Summit and an 'It's On Us' call to action against sexual violence with Vice President Joe Biden.
